WARWICK — This year's integrated K-12 “Rock-n-Roll Art Show” is at Warwick Valley High School at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 11, sponsored by the WVSD Art Department and the Warwick Art Club Booster.
The art show will consist of works from kindergarten through 12th grade and the student art will be on display throughout the Main Lobby, Old Gym, North Café and adjoining hallways.
The schedule• The popular “Newspaper dress” Fashion show is at 6:30 p.m.
• The ninth annual “Chair Auction” in the high school auditorium begins at 7:15 p.m. The Chair Auction benefits the scholarship fund for WVHS seniors who plan to pursue art in college.
For this event, students have taken an ordinary chair and, over the course of several months, transformed it into a work of art.
The chairs are auctioned off to the public with 100 percent of the proceeds going to participating graduating seniors in the form of scholarships.
The chairs are painted in a style of an art movement, technique or a particular artist.
The junior and senior art portfolio class and other juniors and seniors, as well as art department faculty members, will be participating in the event.
The chairs will be on display before the auction in the high school lobby. There are more than 20 chairs that range wildly in style and themes.
• This year the art teachers are creating one-of-a-kind birdhouses also up for auction during the art show.
