Warwick student to play Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker"

WARWICK — Eight-year-old Sanfordville Elementary School student, Kya Stein, will be playing the role of Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker" at the Railroad Playhouse in Newburgh.
Kya began acting and singing at age four doing local theater productions such as "Beauty and the Beast," "Godspell," "Dear Edwina," "Sleeping Beauty" and "Cinderella." Last September, Kya was thrilled to make her debut with Just Off Broadway Inc. in "The Sound of Music" as Gretl, the youngest Von Trapp. Kya just recently finished filming a web series for You Tube called "Mother Goose Club" and was invited on the US Memory Championships as one of the questionnaires.
Kya is thrilled to return to the Just Off Broadway Inc. stage in William Gibson's play, "The Miracle Worker, the story of Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan which will be presented from May 17 through 26. It is directed by Joyce Presutti at the Railroad Playhouse, 27 South Water St., in Newburgh.
Shows are at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets can be purchased online at www.justoffbwy.com or over the phone at 845-875-4325 for $15 and $18, or $20 at the door.
