Warwick School of Music celebrates new ownership

PINE ISLAND — On Saturday, June 22, Town of Warwick Deputy Supervisor James Gerstner and members of the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce joined new owners Michael and Lisa LeRose and staff for a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the Warwick School of Music, 610 County Route 1 in Pine Island.
The new owners stated that they are looking forward to sharing their passion of music with the community and providing music lessons, classes and ensemble opportunities to the people of Warwick.
Michael LeRose has been teaching guitar at the school since 2004 and recently assumed ownership when the previous owners decided to pursue new interests.
LeRose studied music at Montclair State University where he received a bachelor of arts degree in music education. He then studied classical guitar with Andrew Schulman and Carol Hammersma and jazz guitar with Eddie Hazel.
LeRose has been performing and continues to perform in bands for more than 30 years. He is currently in a masters program in educational leadership. LeRose also spends his days as a high school music teacher at the Morris County School of Technology in Denville, N.J., where he developed the entire music curriculum in a school that had no music classes at all. His program features what he calls the “21st Century Musician triad,” which is instrument proficiency, music theory and music technology. LeRose believes that the three areas intertwine to create a well rounded musician that is adaptable and able to perform in the current musical environment and he hopes to share his experiences with the Warwick School of Music in the coming years.
The Warwick School of music has a variety of talented instructors offering lessons to a broad range of styles.
“They love to teach and bring out the best in their students,” said LeRose. “Our instructors bring a vast array of knowledge and experience to the school and have a commitment to the students they teach.”
