Warwick school host tech expo Oct. 29

WARWICK — Long gone are the days of the inkwell and dipping pen.
On Monday, Oct. 29, the Warwick Valley School District will be holding a “Technology Expo” from 3 to 7 p.m.
The event, which will be held at the District Office Building, 225 West St., at the rear of the Middle School parking lot, will showcase the various forms of technology and Web applications that teachers and students use in teaching and learning.
Students will present projects demonstrating the latest designs of technology-enhanced learning experiences.
And teachers will display how they use digital tools to engage students.
Vendors will also be on hand offering discounts and giveaways for staff and the community.
The public is invited to take part and see how educators are using technology to engage students and enhance learning outcomes, while taking advantage of special offers afforded by local vendors.
Visitors will learn about digital curriculum resources and how the Warwick Valley School District is taking steps to create a bridge between school and home using technology.
“You will have an opportunity,” said instructional technologist Yvonne Koulikov, “to see how mobile devices are utilized to create ubiquitous learning environments and how student response systems help students learn to take responsibility for their learning.”
Representatives from NBC Learn, a digital resource available to students from both within school and at home, and Castle Learning, a Web-based tool used for supporting classroom instruction, homework assignments, common assessments and self-generated student practice, will be on hand to both demonstrate home use and answer questions.
