Warwick Rotary Club to donate 800 roses to local senior citizens

WARWICK — Approximately 800 long-stemmed roses will be given to Warwick seniors in April by members of the Warwick Valley Rotary Club, whose motto is “Service above Self.”
The tribute to the seniors as valued community citizens ties in with the Village of Warwick’s official flower, the rose.
Under the leadership of Rose Chair Joyce Perron, Warwick Rotarians have been selling hundreds of dozens of roses to family, friends and business associates to share with loved ones and employees.
Rotary Past President Stan Martin is coordinating the rose donations to seniors.
Roses will be distributed to Liberty Green’s three senior residential buildings, Devon Woods, Mount Alverno Assisted Living Center, Schervier Pavilion, Burt Farms, Creekside Apartments and St. Anthony Community Hospital.
Warwick Valley Rotary uses profits from the rose sale and other fund raisers to help support more than 30 community non-profit organizations and scholarships.
The Warwick Rotary Club was started in 1922 but disbanded during World War II. The current club was chartered in 1976 and is celebrating its 43rd anniversary.
The club meets every Wednesday noon at the Landmark Inn. Visitors and prospective members are invited to attend.
