WARWICK — Estamos con Puerto Rico.
On Sept. 20, in what may have been the worst storm in the history of Puerto Rico, Hurricane Maria crippled the island, leaving residents without power, food, water, homes, hospitals or any of the services necessary for day-to-day living.
As usual, many Warwick residents and business owners stepped up to help the victims of the Category 5 storm.
Warwick businesswoman Frances Bachmann, for example, organized a Puerto Rico Disaster Relief fund raiser, which was held on Sunday, Oct. 15, at Coquito Restaurant, 31 Forester Ave. in the Village of Warwick.
The festive indoor and outdoor event featured food and music along with a silent auction, tricky tray, raffle and 50/50.
The event raised $8,000, which will be donated to the Hispanic Federation's Disaster Relief & Recovery Program for the people of Puerto Rico.
