Town of Warwick Police Officer Katie Hansen, pictured here with Courtney Young, a detective with the Fairfax County, Va., participated in the 2018 Police Unity Tour. Hansen rode with nearly 130 officers from various branches of law enforcement with Virginia’s Chapter IV on a hilly, three-day, approximately 230-mile bicycle ride. On Saturday, nearly 2,800 other participants met up in Washington, D.C., to ride through the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial. The ride is to honor those who have died in the line of duty and to raise money for the National Law Enforcement Officers Museum which is set to open this October. The goal of the museum is to create a walk-in-the-shoes of law enforcement experience and to help strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the communities they serve. More than 2.8 million dollars was raised this year.
