St. Stephen’s to hold shredding event

St. Stephen, the First Martyr Church, Warwick, will hold a paper shredding event on Sunday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the St. Stephen’s soccer field on the corner of West Street Extension and St. Stephen’s Lane in Warwick.

The cost is $9 per banker box, or $7 per grocery bag.

Shredding will be done by Legal Shred, a secure, certified and insured shredding company, and all shredded material will be recycled to both preserve the environment as well as provide further security.

    Acceptable items

Acceptable items for the shredder include paper (white or colored), file folders, checkbooks, staples and paper clips and small quantities of plastics including ID cards and credit cards. There is no need to remove staples or paperclips.

    Unacceptable items

Items that will not be accepted include hard-drives, back-up tapes, x-rays, videos, cassettes, CD’s, DVD’s, hazardous material, syringes or needles, or any heavy metal objects such as nuts, bolts or metal plates. Paper is flammable and mixing with anything that sparks like a battery or heavy metal is very dangerous.

Anyone who plans to bring more than five boxes or bags of material should call prior to the event for planning purposes. For more information, call 845-325-4638.
