WARWICK — The annual volunteer recognition luncheon hosted by the Warwick Valley Ecumenical Council was held June 5 at Mount Alverno in Warwick to thank the volunteers who delivered 12,675 meals last year to clients in Warwick.

“Without you, there would be no Meals on Wheels in Warwick,” said Jane Gareiss, president of Warwick Valley Meals on Wheels. “Through your efforts, picking up the meals and delivering them to our community every weekday, you are helping our neighbors who may not be able to cook for themselves. There are 103 volunteers who help us accomplish this goal. Your kindness is appreciated by this organization as well as by our clients.”

Warwick Valley Meals on Wheels was formed in 1975 with the purpose of providing economical, nutritious meals for anyone within the village of Warwick and nearby areas who is temporarily or permanently unable to provide their own meals.

The organization operates under the auspices of the Warwick Ecumenical Council.

Mount Alverno kitchen provides the freshly prepared meals for daily delivery. The phone number for Meals on Wheels is 845-986-3389.
