A Warwick man has died after being pulled from his car, which ended up submerged in a creek over the weekend.
Warwick Police received a call at 11:43 a.m. on Saturday that a car was spotted in Wawayanda Creek off County Route 1, according to Lt. John Rader. After being pulled from his car by responders, Adam Washington, 28, was rushed to St. Anthony Community Hospital, but was pronounced dead on Sunday.
When the fire department arrived on the scene, they put on cold water rescue suits and entered the water immediately, according to Rader. They conducted a secondary search of the water and the vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Solara, and did not find anyone else in or near the car.
Warwick responders were assisted by New York State Police, the Monroe Fire Department Dive Team and the Cronomer Valley Fire Department Dive Team.
At this time, Rader said they do not know the cause of the accident or what time the accident occurred.
“We have no witnesses currently to the accident,” Rader said, “so we are asking that if anyone did see anything to please contact us to assist with our ongoing investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 845-986-5000.
