Warwick Lions Club to honor Warwick citizens for community involvement

WARWICK — The Warwick Lions Club will hold a dinner on Thursday, April 5, at 6 p.m. at the Landmark Inn to thank individuals who have made a difference in this town.
Past Lions president Roger Smith will receive the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship for Dedicated Humanitarian Services. This is one of the highest awards a Lion can receive for community service.
Receiving the Robert J. Uplinger Distinguished Service Award will be:
• The Ahearn Family for raising more than $1.1 million for families in need in our area;
• Shirley Puett, for forming, expanding and monitoring the Back Pack Snack Attack Program, that provides free food for families in need to ensure the children have food in their household over the weekends when school is not in session; and
• George Arnott, “Mr. Warwick,” for always helping others, Bicycle Safety, Defensive Driving and a valuable member of the Sesquicentennial Committee in the Village of Warwick in 2017.
