Photo provided by the Warwick Historical Society Youngsters attending the Warwick Historical Society's history camp in August will be able to experience the tools as well as the sounds, smells and tastes of the past.
WARWICK The Warwick Historical Society will host its annual history camp for children between the ages of 8 and 11 from Monday, Aug. 6, and Friday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
The camp, which will be held at the A.W. Buckbee Center and the Shingle House, mixes the magic of history mixed with traditional arts and crafts.
The programs include: Learn about American Indian Culture.
Make trade objects – like wampum.
Assist in shearing a sheep; card its wool.
Make a felt geode from the wool.
Make a horseshoe ring with a blacksmith.
Dig for fluorescent crystals from Warwick.
Experience the sounds, smells and tastes of the past.
