GC optics, located at 123 Route 94 South, Suite 2, stands for GEEK and CHIC, because where there is science, there is also style, according to the company’s website.

On Wednesday, March 3, members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined founders Galo Andrade and Jenny Altman, their eight year-old daughter Luisa, staff, relatives, friends and business associates to celebrate the official grand opening of the new family owned optical business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new Warwick location is a modern space where clients can feel comfortable and at ease while shopping for glasses and sunglasses.

Their boutique style store, located near Noble Pies, features a large communal table and a custom mural painted by local artist Rebecca Pry.

Andrade, a New York City based optician for more than 20 years, previously worked with top ophthalmologists in retinal, corneal and neurological specialties and is considered top in his field, whether it’s fitting keratoconus patients with Scleral Lenses or helping children with myopia control/CRT.

He also edges the lenses himself right in the office, a service rarely done, enabling him to offer total customization.

“Galo loves what he does,” said Altman. “His friendly personality and warm heart has earned him rave reviews from loyal patients.”

Altman, who supplies the CHIC at GC Optics, is a stylist and writer with an expertise in beauty, style and wellness and sees eyewear as the ultimate feel-good, fashion accessory and her mission is knowing what style works best on you and with your lifestyle.

“GC Optics,” she added, “uses cutting edge equipment to ensure the best eye exams and most personalized service. Visit us to fill current prescriptions, talk about contact lenses, try transitions, discuss dry-eye or myopia concerns, have an exam or just to say hello. Se habla español.”
