Warwick Food Pantry announces new Web site

WARWICK — The Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry has a new Web site - www.warwickpantry.org - that explains the mission of the pantry and how people can be a part of the program.
In the press release announcing the new online presence, pantry official Amy Lawlor asked the public to check out the site.
Included on the web site under "Donate" is a way to make a donation directly to the pantry with a credit or debit card.
Lawlor noted that when a person makes a donation, "not a cent of your money goes to administration costs. We are totally staffed by volunteers and any administration costs we incur are underwritten by a generous donor. Therefore, 100 percent of your donation is going directly to help feed people in our community."
The "Volunteer" tab gives details on how to become involved in the work of the pantry. Help is needed to stock the shelves and to do food pickups.
To donate food items, for the "Go Shopping" tab on the site, where you will find drop off locations (Warwick United Methodist Church on Forester Avenue and Track 7 Postal on First Street) along with a list of needed items.
"We encourage you to keep this list in mind when you shop locally at ShopRite," Lawlor said in the press release. "You can pick up one or two items and drop them in the box they have provided at the front of the store."
On average, the pantry serves about 200 families each month, representing nearly 650 people each month.
"Over the years our community has repeatedly shown their incredible generosity in supporting all of our efforts," Lawlor wrote. "We hope that in this holiday season of giving you will take a moment to go to the website and make a donation to help us continue the good work we do. Wishing you all the happiest of holidays."
