Warwick Explore life after graduation at Warwick Valley High School’s Post High School Planning Night on April 24

    Students and their parents can explore post-graduation opportunities at Warwick Valley High School’s Post-High School Planning Night on Wednesday, April 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
    There will be workshops, resources and plenty of experts on hand. The event is open to students in grades 9-11, parents and guardians from Warwick Valley and neighboring high schools.
    Workshops will include:
    • Common application/college visit process
    Presenter: Olivia Druckrey, Sacred Heart University
    How to navigate the common app, prepare for college visits, and how to make the most of them.
    • Four-year SUNYs
    Presenter: Paige Olscamp, SUNY New Paltz, Asst. Director of Admissions
    Learn about four-year SUNY schools and the application process.
    • NCAA eligibility process
    Presenters: Greg Sirico, Warwick Valley Athletic Director; Mary Fox, Warwick Valley High School Guidance Director
    Student-athletes preparing to enroll in a Division I or Division II school need to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center to ensure they have met amateurism standards and are academically prepared for college work.
    • Options for students with disabilities
    Presenters: Colleen Long, Senior VR Counselor, ACCES-VR, Karen Moody, OPWDD
    Transitioning services for students with disabilities. Post-secondary education and employment options. Eligibility options and overview of services provided by ACCES-VR and OPWDD.
    • Naviance
    Presenters: High School Counselors
    Naviance is a comprehensive college and career readiness solution that helps districts and schools align student strengths and interests to postsecondary goals. Learn to navigate and utilize Naviance.
    • Two-year SUNYs
    Presenter: Maynard Schmidt, SUNY Orange
    Learn about two-year SUNY schools, transfer options, and how to plan your courses to maximize credit acceptance at a transfer college
    • Non-traditional paths
    Presenter: Annette Calderon, Lincoln Tech
    Learn about non-traditional paths for students after graduation, including employment and career and technical education.
