Warwick Children’s Book Festival draws huge crowds

WARWICK — On Saturday, Sept. 26, approximately 50 authors were on hand for book signings during the 2015 Warwick Children’s Book Festival held on Railroad Avenue.

The weather was near perfect as families gathered under a huge tent to meet the authors and purchase signed-children’s books.

Authors and illustrators were available from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. to chat with parents and children and to autograph their works.

During the day the Uncle Brothers, featuring Tommy Gardner and Barry Wiesenfeld, provided musical entertainment especially geared for families and their children. And there was story telling and book coloring to add to the fun.

The Saturday Book Festival was presented by the Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation and Glen P. and Susan D. Dickes. Other supporters included Stephanie and Herbert Neuman, the Village of Warwick, ShopRite and the Warwick Valley Farmers Market.

This bi-annual event was also made possible thanks to numerous coordinators, members of the Teen Committee and other volunteers.

The Warwick Children’s Book Festival, which is attended by families from all over the Hudson Valley, began in 2005 and except for an interruption during the building of the new library, has since been held every other year.

A special Warwick Children’s Book Festival publication in The Warwick Advertiser was sponsored by Ye Olde Warwick Book Shoppe, St. Anthony Community Hospital, ShopRite of Warwick and Leo Kaytes Ford.
