Warwick Atelier celebrates five years of individual art instruction

— The Warwick Atelier studio art school, 3 Points of View, is now in its fifth year offering art classes and workshops.

Award-winning artist Susan Hope Fogel explained that the motivation for starting the school was to share her knowledge of drawing and painting principles with students who had a serious desire to develop their craft in a traditional genre.

'Find their style'
"I was very fortunate to have had excellent drawing and painting instructors," she said. "Now, my goal is to convey the most important concepts of drawing and painting to my students so they immediately develop skills to create a strong foundation. My intention is not for everyone to paint in a traditional manner but to find their style, their authenticity, that will arise when they develop the skills and find their voice."

Fogel added that students who thrive at the Warwick Atelier are those who have a committed desire to truly develop their skills.

"I have had absolute beginners achieve remarkable results in a relatively short space of time," she said. "The small classes provide an environment for a very intense learning experience where they receive a lot of attention."

Classes and workshops are ongoing throughout the year. The studio work focuses on drawing from life, painting the still life, and florals. Plein air classes and workshops are held during the warmer months. And there have also been popular painting trips to Tuscany, Ireland and Cape Cod.

Fogel is a member of the Copley Society of Art, the Hudson Valley Art Association, the Pastel Society of America and the Warwick Art League.

She exhibits her work in galleries throughout the United States and has studied classical drawing at the New York Academy of Art, figurative studies at The Art Students League and The National Academy as well as painting in North Light and landscape studies with John Osborne at the Ridgewood Art Institute.

Small classes
Fogel has also been featured in American Artist Magazine as well as Art Times.

The small classes at the Atelier, which comes from the French word for workshop or studio, average four to six students, beginner to advanced. They are designed to insure extra individual attention as students are guided toward a fuller understanding of the principles of drawing and painting.
