Warwick. Albert Wisner Public Library’s annual trustee election set for May 18

| 30 Mar 2021 | 11:19

Recognizing that many in the community continue to struggle with the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Albert Wisner Public Library Board of Trustees unanimously agreed to continue to keep funding levels the same as FY 2019-2020.

What this means is that library taxes will remain unchanged for the upcoming year (2021-2022.)

The library will still hold its annual trustee election concurrently with the Warwick Valley School District’s annual vote on Tuesday, May 18. The election of two trustees will be on the ballot. Voting will take place at school district polling places from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Residents of the Warwick Valley School District who are registered to vote may participate in the trustee election. Voter registration is held at the School District Office during office hours and up to and including May 13.

Voting by absentee ballot may also be requested at the School District Office at least seven days before the election date (if the ballot is to be mailed) or one day before the election if the ballot is to be picked up by the voter.

Two Library Trustee positions are on the ballot. One position is for a full term of five years and the other is to fill the remaining three-year term created by the resignation of a board member.

Persons wishing to stand for election as trustee must return to the library a petition with at least 25 signatures of residents of the Warwick Valley School District no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, April 19. Petitions are available on the Library’s website, www.albertwisnerlibrary.org.

While the Library will not be asking for an increase in public funding, the board will still hold an information meeting on the Library’s proposed operating budget for fiscal year FY 2021-2022. This meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 4, at 7 p.m. at the library at One McFarland Drive in the Village of Warwick. The proposed FY2021/2022 Operating Budget may be found at the library and on the library’s website at www.albertwisnerlibrary.org.
