Voter registration dates set for Florida School District budget vote
FLORIDA — On Tuesday, May 15, residents of the Florida School District will vote on this year’s annual school budget and will elect two members to the Board of Education.
In order to vote, individuals must be registered with either the school district or the Orange County Board of Elections.
There is still time to register with the Florida Union Free School District before the budget vote.
(Registering as a voter with the school district - a “personal registration” - will entitle you to vote on the Florida School budget and school board elections, but will not enable you to vote in village, town, county or other elections.)
The district is hosting two Voter Registration opportunities:
• 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 in the Music Room of S.S. Seward Institute, 53 North Main St., Florida.
• 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8 in the Music Room of S.S. Seward Institute, 53 North Main St., Florida.
To register, you must:
• Reside in the district at least 30 days preceding the vote
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be a U.S. citizen
If you are registered to vote but won’t be able to appear in person at the polls due to illness, physical disability, hospitalization or travel, applications for absentee ballots are available at the Office of the District Clerk (51 North Main St., Florida) or by calling 845-651-3095.
Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the district clerk at least seven days prior to the vote if the ballot will be mailed or the day before the vote if the ballot will be picked up. Ballots must be received by 5 p.m. on the day of the vote.
