Ten images portraying the beauty of Sugar Loaf Mountain have been chosen as finalists by Straus News staff as part of the Orange County Land Trust’s Sugar Loaf Mountain Photo Contest.
People can view the finalist images on Orange County Land Trust’s Facebook page, and vote by clicking “like” or similar reactions on their favorite image. The photo that receives the greatest number of likes and/or reactions wins.
Participants are encouraged to encourage friends, family and community members to vote for their entries. Voting is open until April 15 at 5 p.m.
The purpose of the contest is to shine a light on the Orange County Land Trust’s “Save the Mountain” efforts to permanently protect Sugar Loaf Mountain. The 300-acre property comprises forest, streams, wetlands, and wildlife habitat. The Orange County Land Trust intends to transfer the property to NYS Parks as an addition to Goosepond Mountain State Park, where it will be accessible to the public for outdoor recreation.
