Virtual. Orange Environment to host three workshops in its Practice Sustainable Living series

Orange Environment, Inc. will host three new virtual workshops in its Practice Sustainable Living series to be held on three Wednesdays in March and April from 7 to 8:30 p.m.:

“Grow Shiitake Mushrooms in Your Backyard” will be presented on March 31 with Master Gardener Joseph Gregoire, covering topics like growing shiitake mushrooms on tree logs, inoculating techniques and harvesting.

The session on April 14 will cover “Growing Vegetables from Seed to Harvest.” Jim Hall, Master Gardener and compost instructor at the University of Vermont, will discuss selecting plants and designing your garden, starting seeds indoors and plant diseases and pest control.

And the workshop on April 28, “Home Composting and Organic Gardening,” also taught by Jim Hall, will discuss how to recycle kitchen scraps and other organic waste to enrich your soil, present different types of compost bin construction, how to apply your compost and composting with worms.

Cost is $20 per workshop. Instruction packets will be provided.
