TUXEDO — Ranger Rosary makers from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Tuxedo gave 400 handmade Ranger Rosaries to the West Point graduates at the Baccalaureate Mass at Holy Trinity Chapel last week.
The handmade rosaries are made of parachute cord, with dark plastic beads and crucifix, and have no metal parts to reflect light or make noise in the field.
Rosaries are also being sent to our servicemen and women deployed in combat zones, to those stateside preparing to be deployed through military chaplains and to VA hospitals.
Ranger Rosary's mission is to put rosaries into the hands of every member of the U.S. Armed Forces around the globe who wants one.
"Since we started this chapter of Ranger Rosary at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in January 2015, we have made over 2,000 ranger rosaries," Nancy Burke, one of the organizers of this effort, said. "We brought 400 to West Point this year and 500 last year. The rest we ship to Annapolis where they are then sent to military chaplains around the globe.
