WARWICK — The Warwick NY Parents Group will be holding its second annual Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 2-5 p.m. in the Warwick Middle School parking lot. The rain date is Sunday, Oct. 29.
Car setup will begin at 2 p.m. At about 3:30 p.m., the Halloween costume parade will begin where children will march around the parking lot and give the judges the opportunity to see their costumes. Trunk or treating will begin at 4 p.m. and conclude around 4:45 p.m. when winners will be announced. There will be prizes for the best children’s costumes and best-decorated vehicle trunks.
The annual Trunk or Treat event provides a safe environment for families to enjoy Halloween. Costumed children trick or treat by going from car trunk to car trunk to get their bags filled. Participants can choose to decorate a car and hand out candy, or simply come for the trick or treating. If you are decorating a car, there is a $5 donation required that covers all the passengers of your vehicle. If you are coming for the trick or treating alone, there is a $5 donation per trick or treater. This year’s trunk or treat benefits local nonprofit Warwick Playground Dreams.
Warwick Playground Dreams is a non-profit made up of a committee of volunteers from all across the town of Warwick who want to rejuvenate the aging playground in Stanley-Deming Park. Their goal is to bring a community-designed, community-built ADA-accessible playground to Warwick. Teal Pumpkin ProjectOnce again the Warwick,NY Parents group will be participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project. Halloween can be a tricky time for families managing food allergies. Many traditional Halloween treats aren’t safe for children with life-threatening food allergies. The Teal Pumpkin Project promotes safety, inclusion and respect of individuals managing food allergies. This worldwide movement offers an alternative for kids with food allergies, as well as other children for whom candy is not an option.
Participants interested in joining our support of the Teal Pumpkin Project are asked to provide a non-edible alternative for children.
As well as display a Teal Pumpkin; a free printable will be available online at the Parents group.
