Town of Warwick presents proclamation declaring April Go Orange for Animals Month
Once again this April orange bows and window clings along with an orange banner are displayed throughout the Village of Warwick.
In 2006 the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), using its signature color, orange, kicked off April as Prevention of Animal Cruelty Month.
In recent years Orange County as well as both the Town and Village of Warwick have supported the campaign with official proclamations.
And on Thursday evening, April 11, Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton presented a proclamation declaring April, “Go Orange for Animals Month,” to Suzyn Barron, president of the Warwick Valley Humane Society.
“Animal cruelty and neglect occurs in all social, economic and cultural denominations and is a valuable predictor of present and future violent individuals,” said Barron. “We ask residents and businesses alike to join us in Go Orange for Animals by wearing an orange lapel ribbon or displaying an orange bow or awareness window cling for the rest of the month.”
The Warwick Valley Humane Society, Inc. is a not for profit corporation of the State of New York that was founded in 1954 and has operated the Warwick Animal Shelter since 1968.

More than 50 percent of its annual income is derived through fund raising.
