Town of Warwick awarded $100,000 for new plow truck
WARWICK — The Town of Warwick has been awarded a $100,000 grant for the purchase of a plow truck for the town's Department of Public Works.
State Senator John J. Bonacic secured the grant through the State and Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2017-2018 State Budget.
The Town of Warwick has an aging plow truck fleet, with 13 vehicles that have been in service for more than 10 years. The town has no spare trucks should one break down.
“The Town of Warwick has 220 miles of road and this grant will allow the highway department to keep the roads clear and safe during inclement weather," Bonacic said in the press release announcing the grant. "It will also save local taxpayers money.”
Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael thanked the state senator for his work.
"Without this $100,000 grant," Sweeton said, "it would be impossible for the town to afford this vital piece of equipment that is critical to keeping our roads open and safe for our residents. We are grateful for the Senator’s continued support of the Town of Warwick.”
