Third annual career fair held at Warwick Valley High School

WARWICK — The third annual Career Fair was held at Warwick Valley High School on April 12.
The event was sponsored by Warwick Foundation for Excellence in Learning (WFEL), the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce, C&D’s Old World Bagels and Candy Apple Shoppe LLC.
The event featured 23 local presenters from six different career fields. Students from Warwick Valley High School and S.S. Seward Institute had the opportunity to learn about careers in advanced manufacturing, journalism and communications, farm-to-table, hospitality and tourism, appearance and alternative health.
WFEL’s mission is to enrich the educational environment for Warwick students, so career education has been a natural focus for the group.
“The Career Fair allows us to use the expertise of people in the community to expose students to a wide range of careers,” said Diane Rowe, a member of the WFEL Board of Directors.
Speaking with adults about how they found their career paths helps students understand the success that comes from pursuing a career that matches one’s abilities and interests.
“We are so grateful to the wonderful professionals who volunteered their time and creativity, and shared their passion for their professions,” said Rowe. “They made this career fair an unqualified success and encouraged students to think more broadly about their own futures."
