Theres a chair for everyone

WARWICK The Art Department at the Warwick Valley School District is sponsoring a gallery-hopping art show on Friday, May 4. The elementary and middle school art show will be held at the district office from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Then hop up to the High School lobby for the Rock-n-Roll Art Show and chair auction beginning at 6 p.m.
The students have been working for months to transform ordinary chairs into works of art. The styles range from Peter Pan and Animal Kingdom to a beautifully rendered horse and Norman Rockwell.
More than 25 chairs will be available at the auction, with the proceeds being used to fund scholarships for graduating seniors. The chairs will be on display before the auction in the high school lobby. The auctioning of the chairs will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
Overall, the district wide art show will consist of works from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Student designed T-shirts will be for sale in the lobby with part of the proceeds being donated to a local art based charity.
