The Warwick Valley Prevention Coalition coordinator receives ‘Recovery Advocacy Award’
WARWICK — Warwick resident Ryan Caldwell received the Laura Elliott-Engel “Recovery Advocacy Award” at the Friends of Recovery Advocacy Day in Albany on Wednesday, March 20.
Caldwell is the coalition coordinator for the Warwick Valley Prevention Coalition.
Last July Caldwell organized a “Break the Stigma” Walk in Warwick, sponsored by the Warwick Valley Prevention Coalition. Hundreds of people participated in the event to raise awareness about substance abuse and an overdose epidemic as well as to let individuals affected know that there is non-judgmental support and treatment available.
The Warwick Valley Prevention Coalition is a group of concerned parents, youth and community partners working to reduce alcohol and marijuana abuse among youth and to prevention initiation into all drug use by encouraging wise and healthy choices by all community members.
The group meets the fourth Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at the Warwick Valley Community Center, 11 Hamilton Ave., Warwick.
