PINE ISLAND — The crowd at the Pine Island Summerfest gathered quickly when word spread last Friday evening that the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce’s onion eating contest was about to begin.
All the contestants had their own cheering section.
The countdown began and the most challenging competitive eating contest was on.
After one minute and fifty two seconds, Raymond Weslowski for the third time since the contest began was victorious, winning $100 and a plaque to mark the event.
