    WARWICK — Even as his public career draws to a close, state John J. Bonacic continues the work of a state legislator.
    Bonacic has secured two grants through the State and Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2018-19 State Budget.
    The townThe first, for $100,000, will be used for the purchase of a new plow truck for the Town of Warwick.
    “This grant will save Warwick taxpayers money," Bonacic said in the press release detailing the grant, "and ensure that when inclement weather hits, the Town is ready to handle it.”
    Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton added: “Once again Senator Bonacic has helped the town acquire a new plow truck that is critical for us to keep our over 200 miles of roads clear for the safety of our residents. Without this assistance, we could not afford to replace our aging fleet.”
    The villageThe second grant, for $75,000, was awarded to the Village of Warwick for the installation of handicap accessible playground equipment.
    “I’m pleased that the Village of Warwick has made handicap accessibility a priority,” Bonacic said in the press released detailing this grant. "Not only will this grant ensure that everyone who wants, can enjoy the park, it will also save local taxpayers money.”
    Village of Warwick Mayor Michael Newhard said: “The Village of Warwick and Warwick Playground Dreams is pleased to receive the support of a SAM Grant to make the vision of an accessible playground a reality. This project will create a play space for children of all ages and allow children with physical handicaps, visual and auditory impairments be included. We would like to thank Senator Bonacic for his continual help towards making our community a better place.”
