Team Elant walks the walk

GOSHEN — Caring is at the heart of the Elant mission. But the care its employees provide extends beyond the 3,000 frail or elderly individuals within the Elant health care nursing system. Collectively, Elant staff and administration provide leadership and volunteerism to numerous organizations and efforts, throughout the Hudson Valley.
In recent years, Elant chose to focus their community outreach to four, not-for-profit “alliance” organizations, whose missions are similar and relevant to Elant’s care: American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Alzheimer’s Association. Through Team Elant, fundraising activities take place on each Elant campus to support one of these organizations’ national or regional events. Elant Activity Directors plan enjoyable activities that engage the residents and staff to be active participants in the fundraising process and community outreach.
“We have a very dedicated group of employees, who are very active in promoting awareness, and supporting our alliance organizations events. Team Elant can be found at every one of their walks throughout the Hudson Valley,” said Melissa McCoy, director of Corporate Initiatives for Elant.
In addition to the community outreach participation, the Elant Foundation supports Elant’s role as a corporate leader by providing free educational programming within our communities, in conjunction with each of the community alliance organizations.
This fall, Team Elant participated in supporting the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides against Breast Cancer at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets. Through onsite fundraising efforts by the Team Elant ambassadors, on-site wear pink day and walkers’ sponsorships, Team Elant volunteered, walked the day of the event and raised $3,619. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s event in September found Team Elant in full force, with Elant staff cooking, serving food to the walkers, holding pre-event fundraisers and promoting awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. Notably, Team Elant was the top corporate fundraiser in Orange and Sullivan counties, raising more than $6,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
“We are very proud of the compassion our staff provides each and every day to those in our care as well as to the incredible efforts they have contributed through their community outreach and support of our community alliances,” said Todd A. Whitney, president and CEO of Elant.
