Taste of the Town raises $17,000 for St. Stephens parish and school

WARWICK On Sunday, May 20, the eighth annual Taste of the Town was held on St. Stephens Parish grounds.
The huge tent accommodated 25 booths for local restaurants, wineries and other vendors as well as about 1,500 ticket holders who attended the popular annual event.
This years Taste of the Town earned more than $17,000. Proceeds will be used to benefit St. Stephens - St. Edwards School as well as the entire parish and others in the community who use school facilities.
Near perfect weather for the weekend and numerous graduation ceremonies may have caused a slightly lighter turnout than last year but the other side of the coin was shorter lines and more room to sample specialties and wines offered by each vendor.
It was very relaxed this year and our efforts paid off in an event that provided superior food and stellar entertainment, said event chair Mary Juliano. And once again we appreciate the effort and enthusiasm of all our restaurants and vendors, because without them this community gathering would not be possible.
Sponsors for this years Taste of the Town included Quick Chek, Swish Data Corporation and Crystal Run Healthcare.
The best As an added attraction each restaurant was judged for best selections in three categories: Fine Dining, Comfort Food and Dessert.
The first-place winner for Fine Dining was Drunken Cherry Cookie Co., which earned a perfect score.
Chumleys BBQ took first place in Comfort Food.
Lisas Cookies won first place for Dessert.
This was another wonderful event, said Father Michael McLoughlin, pastor of the Church of St. Stephen, the First Martyr. Our parish educates over 1,400 children in our superb school and excellent religious education program. Everyone who participated this afternoon helps to ensure that they will continue to receive a quality education with sound religious, moral and civic values. I thank everyone who helped make the eighth annual Taste of the Town another huge success.
