SUNY Orange Wellness Fair to be held April 3

MIDDLETOWN — Representatives of health and wellness organizations from throughout the Hudson Valley will be available to provide information and health screenings during
SUNY Orange’s 19th annual Wellness Fair, planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, in the Fireplace Lounge of the George F. Shepard Student Center in Middletown.
The Wellness Fair is open to students, faculty, staff and community members and will emphasize wellness for the mind, body and spirit.
Services and tests
Staff from the College’s Accessibility Services, Career and Internship Services and Veterans Services offices will be on hand, along with students from the college’s academic departments for dental hygiene (offering free oral screenings), movement science (fitness evaluations) and nursing (nutrition information, stress and anxiety reduction techniques).
Attendees also may take advantage of free, confidential and anonymous HIV Quick Tests, with results available in less than 20 minutes. Orange Regional Medical Center will be offering free healthy heart screenings.
In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about massage therapy, birth control, safe sex, HIV/STD prevention, stress and anxiety reduction, nutrition, health insurance, smoking cessation, mental health, heart health, yoga and much more. An array of available veterans services within the region will be highlighted, along with information about health insurance and the Affordable Care Act.

Among those agencies and organizations expected to be on hand are: Maternal-Infant Services Network (MISN), providing information on health insurance and affordability; NuRide; New York State’s ridesharing program coordinated by MetroPool; Happy Budda Yoga; Orange County Department of Health, offering smoking cessation tips; Occupations, Inc.; Mobile Mental Health; Safe Homes of the Hudson Valley; Cornell Cooperative Extension; Scotchtown Chiropractic and Physical Therapy; ENT and Allergy Associates; and Orange County Donate Life.
