MIDDLETOWN — The Board of Trustees of Orange County Community College, SUNY Orange, has voted to name a classroom in the school’s new science and technology building "the Orange and Rockland Utilities Electrical Engineering Classroom" in recognition of O&R’s strong support of the college, including contributions to its scholarships and other educational programs.

The announcement came at a celebration earlier this week marking the successful completion of the SUNY Orange Foundation’s $25 million capital campaign. As part of the celebration, the Board of Trustees of the College also approved the naming of the new science and technology building the Rowley Center for Science and Technology, which will open in the fall of 2014 in Middletown. The building is named for Richard Rowley, the current foundation and capital campaign chairman. The O&R classroom will be in the Rowley Center.

“On behalf of all of O&R’s employees, I am truly honored by the board’s decision to recognize O&R’s dedication to SUNY Orange," said O&R Vice President for Operations Francis Peverly. “Our efforts to support the mission of the college and the foundation are hand-in-hand with our Vision to be a leading corporate citizen and a dedicated partner in community efforts. I cannot think of a stronger emblem of our local communities than the community colleges, and SUNY Orange in particular.”
