SUNY Orange announces fall courses in Port Jervis

PORT JERVIS, N.Y. — Nine credit courses will be offered in the evenings this Fall at the SUNY Orange's Sarfatti Education Center in Port Jervis, with topics ranging from marketing, security, business, English, math, health and education to be available.
The class lineup being offered is intended to introduce students to a variety of the degrees that the college offers. Courses include:
Marketing — Monday, 6 to 8:45 p.m.)
United States History 1 — Monday, 6-8:45 p.m.
Industrial and Private Security — Monday, 7-p.m.
Substance Abuse and Health — Tuesday, 5-7:50 p.m.
Freshman English 1 — Tuesday/Thursday, 4-6:50 p.m.
Introduction to Business — Wednesday, 6-8:45 p.m.
Fundamentals of Algebra — Wednesday, 6-8:45 p.m.
Elementary Algebra — Wednesday, 6-8:45 p.m.
Mandated Training for Educators — Thursday, 6-7:50 p.m., 7 weeks only
Students who complete the Industrial and Private Security course will be eligible to apply for the New York State Security Guard Registration Card that allows the holder to seek employment as a licensed security guard in New York. Meanwhile, students who complete the Mandated Training for Educators class will receive state education department certificate forms for use in documenting their satisfactory course work.
Classes begin on Monday, Aug. 27, and continue for 15 weeks into early December (with the exception of the seven-week Mandated Training for Educators class). Modest scholarships are available for students attending the Port Jervis site.
The newly renovated Sarfatti Education Center is located at 150 Pike St. in Port Jervis. Parking at the rear of the building is accessible via West Broome St. and the classrooms are located just off the parking lot.
