NEWTON, N.J. — The Newton Theatre Arts Academy is announcing auditions for their upcoming musical production of Disney’s Frozen Jr.
Frozen Jr.The modern classic is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage.
The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.
A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen Jr. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa.
When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood.
Auditions, callbacks, rehearsalsStudents currently in 2nd through 12th grades can audition at 219 Spring St., Newton, N.J., on either Saturday, May 11, from noon until 3 p.m. or Monday, May 13, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Callbacks will be on Tuesday, May 14, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Starting Monday, July 8, rehearsals will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at The Newton Theatre located at 234 Spring St., Newton.
Children's Chorus (current 2nd and 3rd grades) meet from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost is $175.
Ensemble and named characters (current 4th through 12th grades) meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $300.
For auditions dress comfortably as students will be taught a short dance routine. They may bring in 16 bars of a song of choice along with the backing track and they will also read from the script.
The performance of Frozen Jr. will be held on The Newton Theatre stage on Thursday, July 25, at 7 p.m.

The Jungle Book This high-energy musical, designed for school-aged performers grades 2nd through 12th, is based on the classic Rudyard Kipling novel and the beloved 1967 Disney film.
The jungle is jumpin’ with jazz in this exciting adaptation of the classic Disney animated feature The Jungle Book. Join Mowgli, Baloo, the King and the gang as they swing their way through madcap adventures and thwart the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan.
This musical includes some favorite Disney songs like, “The Bare Necessities” and “I Wanna Be like You.”
With colorful characters and that toe-tapping jungle rhythm, Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for all ages.
RehearsalsThe Jungle Book Kids will start rehearsals on Monday, Aug. 5, and run Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with the performance on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m. all on The Newton Theatre stage located at 234 Spring St.
