— The Renew and Rebuild campaign is a $200 million project being run in all parishes within the Archdiocese of New York.
The objective is to help with the most urgent needs of the Archdiocese including support for needy parishes, Catholic Charities and Catholic high schools.
$1.6 million goalThe Church of St. Stephen, the First Martyr, at 75 Sanfordville Road, will receive 74 per cent of all funds raised by its parishioners. When its goal is exceeded, the parish will receive 85 per cent of all funds raised.
The Archdiocese has assigned the church a campaign goal of $1.6 million, which includes the 2017 and 2018 Cardinal's Appeal.
"To execute all the planned projects, however, ' said Renew and Rebuild Committee Chair Mary Juliano, "we have a stretch goal of two million and I think we will achieve that."
The funds raised through this campaign will allow St. Stephen's to undertake much needed repairs along with numerous renovations and enhancements ranging from lighting improvements and sanctuary improvements to a 2,200 square foot Fellowship Hall.
The new Fellowship Hall with a vaulted ceiling, will seat 130 people and will include a 35-person Community Room. There will be attic storage above the Community Room and a full basement.
So far, 64 families of have pledged $885,000Juliano spoke about the Renew and Rebuild campaign and described all the planned improvements during and after all the masses held on Saturday, April 7, and Sunday, April 8.
"I am excited," she said, "to tell you that as of today, 64 families have pledged $885,000.
"While this outpouring of support is extremely humbling, it only represents a small portion of our parish community," Juliano added. "We encourage the participation of every parish family to come together to meet our goal. We are asking each individual or family to consider a five-year pledge so that our hope for the future of St. Stephen's becomes a reality."
