Souzie Miller appointed general manager of WTBQ

WARWICK — And it was also her birthday.
On April 29, Souzie Miller was promoted to the position of general manager at Orange County’s radio station WTBQ (1110 AM/93.5 FM).
Miller, who began working at WTBQ on March 1, 2007, started out as an account executive and was soon promoted to marketing and sales director.
A native of Australia, Miller began her career at one of Sydney’s most creative advertising agencies, MOJO, which produced award-winning jingle radio and television commercials. Just before coming to the United States and joining WTBQ she worked at Grey Worldwide Switzerland and Saatchi & Saatchi Switzerland as both account director and copywriter.
Miller is also a published author, “The Path” by Siam Miller, her pen name, and she has just completed her first screenplay.
The position of sales manager at WTBQ was filled by Alex Howard, who began working at WTBQ this past February as the senior account executive after working for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment in Washington, D.C.
Howard also hosts the WTBQ-FM radio show, “Party Like It’s 1999,” an all 90s music show, which airs Friday nights from 11 p.m. to midnight.
Frank Truatt, who has been the owner of WTBQ since 1994, also served as general manager. Now he will leave the daily management of the station to Miller.
Truatt will continue to host the “Frank Truatt Morning Show” Monday through Friday, his Monday night 7 p.m. music show, “Rockollections,” along with running the production department.
Since 1969
WTBQ, which relocated last year to a new studio facility on Sanfordville Road, first hit the airwaves in 1969 as a small station created by entrepreneur Ed Klein. After a series of ownership changes and the frequency going dark for a short time, Truatt bought the station and re-opened it.
Since then, he has upgraded its broadcast quality, doubled the AM station’s power and added an FM frequency. WTBQ was also one of the first stations in the region to broadcast on the Internet.
