— The Quickstrike FC soccer club, an elite-level soccer program that offers comprehensive development opportunities for boys and girls from ages 9 through 19, has established a memorial scholarship fund in honor of Christina Ginley.

On March 14, Ginley, an 18-year-old Warwick Valley High School senior and the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Ginley of Warwick, lost her life in an automobile accident.

A statement issued by the Quickstrike FC organization reads: “Christina will always be a player, sister, family member to all of us in Quickstrike FC and in Christina’s memory it is our honor to establish the ‘Christina Ginley Memorial Scholarship Fund.’”

The stated intent of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a “deserving high school graduate student/athlete female soccer player.”

Ginley, who was captain of the girls’ varsity soccer team and a member of the U18 Quickstrike FC 95’s girls’ team, was a passenger traveling to the Jefferson Cup Tournament in Glen Allen, a suburb of Richmond, Va., when the car she was riding in struck a stopped vehicle. Ginley was the only one in the crash who was killed.

Ginley was a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. In addition to her scholastic achievements she had been a role model for her teammates and a caring young leader in the Warwick community.

Ginley raised money for Wounded Warriors, was a volunteer fund raiser for the Warwick Valley Humane Society, coached a young boys soccer team for Warwick Soccer Club, organized a used eye glass collection for the Warwick Lions Club, helped recruit blood donors for the New York Blood Center, participated in St. Stephen’s Parish Midnight Run to Manhattan with clothing for the homeless, tutored students in math and filled baby bottles with change for a pro-life organization.

She had planned to attend college to pursue studies in the medical field and play soccer at the collegiate level.
