Sixty Warwick Valley students complete senior projects

WARWICK — Sixty members of the Warwick Valley High School Class of 2013 have completed Senior Projects, a nationally recognized program in which high school seniors earn high school credit while learning about a subject or working on a project of particular interest, while working with an adult mentor.
There are four components to the Senior Project:
The actual activity.
A portfolio illustrating the experiences.
A 7 to 10-page paper on a topic related to the project.
An oral presentation to a small group of teachers and community members.
The 2012-13 Senior Projects ranged from the practical, such as creating a prom dress or losing weight; and creative, such as learning to play the saxophone or writing plays and books; to community-minded efforts, such as organizing a walk-a-thon for a children’s hospital, hosting a soccer clinic for kids with special needs or training a service dog; to finding out the answers to that critically important question: “Are You Smarter Than A Teacher?”
