Show Me the Door Holiday Edition winners announced

WARWICK — On Aug. 1, 2009, following the announcement of the "Show me the Door Tour" winners, members of the Warwick in Bloom committee were so pleased with feedback from the event that they promised to do it again next year, which they did.
And this year, they've introduced a new event for the holiday season based on that same theme.
This is the first year that the Warwick in Bloom Committee organized a Show Me the Door Holiday Edition.
40 participating businesses
"We had a total of 40 participating businesses," said Deborah Krol, who chaired the Show Me the Door committee. "We are thrilled and hope it will become another holiday tradition in Warwick."
In order to encourage participation in the event, tour maps were made available to the public at the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce caboose office on South Street and at participating businesses.
There were three categories: Grand Winner, with an emphasis on most natural products used. Second Place and Most Whimsical.
The committee announced the winners on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Encore Décor, 24 Ronald Reagan Blvd., was the Grand Winner. Conscious Fork, 20 McEwen St., took second place and the Most Whimsical award went to Warwick Foot Spa & Tea Bar, 36 A South St.
"It was a fun day for everyone to view the 40 participating doors in spite of the very cold weather," said Krol. "We were all amazed at the amount of effort and excitement that was put into the decorations. And thank you to our committee members for making this event a success"
Those who helped
The committee also expressed its gratitude to Amy Sliter of Corwin's Florist & Greenhouses, Deborah Sweeton of General's Garden, Sally of Scheuermann Farms, Mayor Michael Newhard, who initiated the event, the official committee photographer Frances Cantone and to Karen Antonelli, Tina Buck, Claire Gabelmann, Marge King, Eileen Patterson, Felicia Tanzosh, Bridget Wallace, Sue Wilk and Regina Wittosch.
