WARWICK — On Sunday, Dec. 16, 15 members and friends of Warwick Women in Black stood in the chilly rain for a silent, candlelight vigil.

“We are standing here sharing the grief and pain of those affected by the horrific shooting in Newtown, Connecticut,” Emily Boardman, one of the organizers, said in the group’s press release detailing the vigil. “We also acknowledge the countless thousands who are suffering the results of violence throughout the world and empathize with them.”

Passing drivers honked their support and several passersby expressed their thanks to those standing vigil.

Warwick Women in Black is part of an international nonviolent organization that stands in silent vigil for peace.
