WARWICK — A charity golf outing to fund research for a rare heart condition will be held later this month in Warwick.
The first annual Shane Edward Tanzosh ARVC Heart Foundation Charity Golf Outing is planned for Friday, April 26, at Hickory Hill Golf Course, 25 Country Park Lane, in Warwick.
Shane Tanzosh died in his 20s of Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy, a rare genetic mutation of the heart which is difficult to detect.
His parents, Tony and Falecia Tanzosh of Warwick, said Shane had symptoms throughout his life but normal heart tests did not detect his fatal illness.
In honor of Shane, his parents have created a foundation to contribute funds for research being conducted at Northwestern University. Their goal is to aid development of a simple standard screening for early ARVC detection.
The golf outing will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The $135 golfer cost includes 18 holes of golf, a buffet lunch after the tournament and prize opportunities.
