A 17-year-old Village of Florida student was arrested Tuesday after police say he made a threat of school violence at the S.S. Seward Institute.
Brandon Hallock was charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony. He was arraigned in the Village of Florida Court and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail, $6,000 secured bond.
According to Florida Union Free School District Superintendent Jan Jehring, the district received a report on Tuesday afternoon that a student had made a threat on social media.
Once the district received the report, it was turned over to the Village of Florida Police, who launched an investigation with the New York State Police.
    Police arrested Hallock that night.
“Law enforcement was very supportive of the district and really made this a priority for us, which was reassuring for everybody,” Jehring said.
A couple weeks prior to this incident, there was another threat made by a different individual, but after a police investigation, Jehring said it was not deemed to be a credible threat against the district.
The superintendent said the district looks into any threat and works closely with law enforcement.
“We have found them to be very responsive in keeping our schools safe,” she said.
In light of the recent deadly school shooting in a high school in the state of Florida, Jehring said there is certainly a heightened sense of concern about safety and that the district will be working with all of the stakeholders to review all of the district’s safety plans and procedures and make recommendations.
