Seventeen minutes

About 350 Warwick Valley High School students participated in the National School Walkout on Wednesday, March 14, in which students across the country walked out of their classrooms to protest gun violence. They gathered in the high school student/staff parking lot for 17 minutes of silence - a minute for each life lost in the Parkland, Fla., school shooting. The students filed out, gathered together, then, after 17 minutes, went back inside. You could hear snow sliding off cars and onto the pavement. The event was supervised by teachers and staff; local police were present as an added precaution.
