WARWICK — The Warwick Valley School District will have full-day kindergarten in the 2013-14 school year.

“It has been and will continue to be a priority in the school district to preserve programs,” Superintendent Dr. Raymond Bryant said in a press release announcing the decision, “and full-day kindergarten is at the top of the list. We will continue to offer full-day kindergarten in 2013-14.”

Kindergarten registration letters were mailed in January to the parents of students eligible for kindergarten in the fall of 2013.

Essential information
In order for a child to be eligible, the parent and child must reside in the Warwick Valley School District and the child must be five years of age on or before Dec. 1, 2013.

Once the district receives a completed registration packet from the parent, an appointment will be scheduled for registration at the Town Hall from April 29 through May 3.

At the Town Hall registration appointment, parents will bring proof of residency, immunizations and birth certificates.

Nurses will check the child’s vision and hearing and address any medical concerns.

A representative from the school’s transportation department will be there – Buster the Talking Bus – to meet the children.

Parents who did not receive kindergarten registration information are asked to call Central Registration at 845-987-3050, ext. 12710, as soon as possible.
