Scarlet’s Way celebrates official grand opening

SUGAR LOAF — On Thursday, June 27, members of the Warwick Valley and Sugar Loaf Chambers of Commerce joined owner Kayla Scarane and her family and friend for an official grand opening and ribbon cutting of Scarlet’s Way, a Dog’s World.
The upscale boutique, located in suites D4 and D5 at 62 Wood Road in Sugar Loaf, specializes in handmade products for all breeds of dogs along with all natural treats and foods. An emphasis is placed on stocking only products made in the USA.
“We carry premium pet food that is not available in the larger stores at the mall,” said Scarane. “Everything we sell is the best quality.”
Scarane first opened the doors to Scarlet’s Way last year when she was 22 years old.
Opening a new business in a tough economy can be a challenge for the most experienced merchant let alone a young entrepreneur like Scarane. But so far, the shop has been well received, especially for dog owners who feel American products, produced under more stringent controls, are safer and healthier than imports.
Scarlet’s Way, a Dog’s World, occupies approximately 1,200 square feet of space in Sugar Loaf Square and is filled with hundreds of unique and chic dog products including bakery items, collars, leads, bowls, clothing and beds.
Scarane also works with local shelters and rescue organizations to help dogs find homes. And she also makes donations with products and a percentage of proceeds from her sales.
“As a proud father,” said Nick Scarane, “I think this is a great success story to inspire other young entrepreneurs in the area that you can attain your dreams with hard work and the desire for success.”
The story behind the name Scarane choose for her business began two years ago when a very friendly six month old Pit Bull was surrendered to the Blooming Grove Humane Society.
Scarane visited the shelter and fell in love with the dog, which she later adopted and named, “Scarlet.”
Scarlet’s Way is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
