Savvy Chic celebrates grand opening and under new management

— Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton and members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined Joanna Barbuto, her family and several clients on Thursday, March 20, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new management at Savvy Chic.

The consignment boutique, located at 26 Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Merchant Square, first opened in 2008.

Barbuto, who became the new owner last May, has elevated the appearance of the shop with a redesigned layout featuring new flooring, fresh colors, an additional fitting room and dedicated juniors and shoe sections, all to offer her customers and consignors a boutique experience.

The shop also sponsors a Warwick Girls Soccer team and raises money for the Backpack Snack Attack program through an in-store consignment program, something in which all consignors are able to participate.

'Discovered this treasure'
Barbuto is a graduate of Pratt Institute with a bachelor of Industrial Design degree. She is a Premier Designs Jewelry distributor and owner of Picture Perfect Design.

"A two-minute ride from Warwick's Main Street will bring you to one of the town's best-kept secrets: Savvy Chic Consignment Boutique," said Barbuto. "Women and teens who have discovered this treasure of a shop have picked up name brand clothing, handbags, shoes and accessories, while happily paying a fraction of the retail cost."

Every day a big day sale
The boutique offers a large selection of merchandise from Ann Taylor, Chico's, Hollister, Eileen Fisher, Anthropologie brands, Free People, Abercrombie & Fitch, INC, Coach, Louis Vuitton, Tory Burch and Michael Kors, just to list a few.

And prom dresses are especially popular at this time of year.

"Many items arrive with tags still attached," she added. "A consignment shop should not be confused with a thrift shop. The merchandise we accept for consignment must be new or nearly new, with no signs of wear. Offering the best in customer service, a beautiful environment, and excellent merchandise at a fantastic price makes everyone happy. We do a lot of smiling and laughing at Savvy Chic. Where else can you find a shop with new items coming in daily, all one-of-a-kind, and every day offering a big sale?"

Barbuto and her husband John are 15-year residents of Warwick, proud parents of two adult children, one son-in-law and a grand puppy.
