Rotary supports efforts to reduce alcohol, drug use by minors

Representatives from the Warwick Valley Coalition updated local Rotarians on efforts to engage parents, young people and community partners in reducing use of alcohol and drugs among minors. Cheryl Barker, Warwick Valley School Board member and coalition spokesperson, said 200 pounds of prescription drugs were collected during Pill Drops coordinated by the coalition in the past two years. Warwick Rotarians are comprised of local community leaders, business and professional men and women. They support about three dozen projects and organizations, including the coalition, with donations and volunteering of time. Warwick Valley Coalition members at a recent weekly Rotary meeting at the Landmark Inn included, from left to right: Wayne Patterson, Dave Eaton, Maria Ferrar, Cheryl Barker, Karen Thomas and Deborah Giuliani. All but Ferrar and Barker are current Warwick Rotarians.
