WEST POINT — Two prominent area Rotarians received individual awards at the Rotary District 7210 Foundation Gala Brunch Sunday, Nov. 5, at West Point’s Hotel Thayer.
Leo Kaytes Sr., a 36-year leader in the Warwick Valley Rotary Club, received the Jeffrey Keahon Foundation Award, and Gary Silver, a past president of the Liberty Rotary Club, was honored with the Tansukh Dorawala Humanitarian Award.
The awards, named for former governors of the eight-county, 60-member mid-Hudson district, honored the recipients for their many years of support and promotion of the Rotary Foundation.
Among the hundreds of current programs supported by the Rotary Foundation are water, sanitation and health projects, including opioid addiction and prevention programs.
As a club, Warwick Valley was honored as the number one club in the district for total giving and per capita giving to the foundation.
Warwick also received a banner for having all of its 67 members participate in the foundation program. Club President Dave Eaton accepted the awards.
